A night to remember full of celebration.

Which leg of the race are you most excited about and why?
Capetown – Abu Dhabi for many reasons but mostly it is our homecoming.

Who is your sailing inspiration?
Ben Davis (makes me want to get offshore!).

Are there any 'home comforts' that you'll be sneaking on board?
Country music.

What's the first thing you'll do when you reach port after each leg?
Look for surf.

Do you have any tips for budding young sailors who are keen to get started?
Time on the water is the key.

What would you have done if you hadn't been a sailor?
Surfer.

How will you prepare for the race? (exercise/food/sleep)
Exercise and lots of snacking.

How important is winning to you?
From a sailing perspective it’s everything. From a media perspective it’s a bonus.

How will you keep morale high if you experience any difficulties. How will you keep everyone focused/entertained?
Bust out the chocolates.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given about the race i.e. 'look after the boat and it will look after you'?
Just keep bailing.

Meet Nick Dana
Media Crew Member
Nick Dana, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing’s Media Crew Member, is one of the United States’ top young offshore sailors. Growing up in a shipyard in Newport, Rhode Island, Nick has been involved with sailing for the better part of his life. He has also carried a camera with him for most of it too.
In the previous Volvo Ocean Race, Nick was part of Puma Ocean Racing’s onshore team when he discovered his passion for the Volvo 70 class and his fascination for filming offshore sailing and the personalities involved.
Nick is also an avid surfer and views the 2011 Volvo Ocean Race as; “the most well planned surf trip ever!”
